During the six month period, the class members develop a broad appreciation of the unique quality of life in the Joplin area and an understanding of the complex issues they face as stewards of the community. The participants in Leadership Joplin are given a snap shot of community interests through sessions. Personal growth is encouraged through the development of leadership styles presented.
The Leadership Joplin program consists of nine sessions, meeting twice a month on Thursdays. The program begins in January with an overnight retreat and concludes in June with a graduation ceremony.
Schedule of sessions include:
- Opening Retreat
- Community Services/Healthcare
- Economic Development/Large Industry
- Joplin City Tour
- Media
- Education
- Local Government
