Tomorrow's Leaders Today

The mission of the Tomorrow's Leaders Today program is to develop leadership skills in youth who will generate positive action within the community and help resolve future challenges.
TLT is a youth leadership program sponsored by the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce. TLT participants are area high school seniors with a variety of interests, experiences and talents. There are five sessions, one per month from November through March, concluding with an evening graduation. TLT provides an opportunity to learn more about the area and the importance of community service to our future. TLT brings students together with business and community leaders to identify and discuss community issues, leadership and career opportunities.
The five sessions and their corporate sponsors for the 2010-2011 class are:
Opening Retreat, November 10 (Sponsored by EaglePicher Technologies, LLC) - Opportunity for the 45 member class, representing seven area high schools, to meet each other. Get acquainted with community leaders and learn team-building.
Government & Law Day, December 8 (Sponsored by Spencer, Scott and
Dwyer, P.C.) - Meet city, county & state officials and discuss what's new in local government and law enforcement. Learn the latest in local crime fighting.
Business & Industry Day, January 26 (Sponsored by R&R Trucking) - Talk to hundreds of business and professional people at the Chamber's Business Expo. Tour local businesses and learn about the business diversity which keeps the local economy strong.
Quality of Life Day, February 9 (Sponsored by Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri) - Discuss current community needs with the volunteers who make things happen! Learn about the quality of life and economic outlook in Southwest Missouri as it compares to the rest of the country.
Health Care Day, March 2 (Sponsored by Missouri Southern State University) - See the latest in medical technology and talk to hospital officials about career opportunities in health care.
Graduation (Sponsored by Missouri Southern State University)
One class member will be the recipient of a $500 Scholarship provided by
General Mills.
